Graz conference at the castle.

Conference at the Castle.

The day started as usual with a nice breakfast at Roomz Hotel in Graz.

This after a serious hit from the jet lag yesterday 8 hrs sleep was more than welcome.
Took a taxi from the Hotel to the train station in Graz and meet up with some of the people from the conference, we had booked a wine tour of the South Styria region so around twenty of us headed to two vinyards, through spectacular scenery and narrow winding streets of Alpine villages.

The two experiences at the very different vineyards was enlightening and looked at the product from different perspectives. The first a very slick, well presented commercial operation promoting the area as a whole through wine and local products, i.e. pumpkin seed oil, vinegars and schnapps, the other a bio dynamic vineyard with very strong ethical views on production.

Very interesting and tasted some interesting wine, different from the wine i'm used to, very steely, mineral tasting savvy's and oaked chardonnay.....Hmmm.

After these two interesting visits we were off to a traditional "Buschenschank" Winery Restaurant for dinner. A wonderful meat and cheese platter half the length of table was served for six of us along with more wine and sourdough bread. Lovely place, nice people, good company and very tasty well prepared food. You would be happy to lock yourself there in winter for a few days. Highly recommend.

We then go and check into the Castle, very nice, should be a fun
couple of days, I hope the food is as good as we have had everywhere else so far.
